I understand what you're saying and agree more measures need to be taken, but we have to remember they're humans, not animals, and 90 percent will be released back into society one day.

70% of them will return to prison. Not all humans are equal.

I spent a week in a pretrial detention center for DUI, most of those folks are institutionalized and rarely spend a year out of jail.

Why do prisons allow prisoners to inter mingle. Seems as if every inmate was in their own cell or follows a chain linked fence line to get food, no one could fight at all that other shite you see in TV

Group holding cell for 3 hours was enough to let me know I never wanted to go back.

Not I, but a former customer of mine served time in federal prison for income tax fraud and evasion. He was at a minimum security camp and he only served a couple of years. He said that if he really wanted to escape he could have no problem. He said they gave everybody a job. Since he had experience in construction (he was a commercial drywall contractor) they gave him a job as a drywall, painting, carpentry handyman.

I got the impression that his stay there was not too bad, but he was in a minimum security facility without hardened , violent criminals.

I didnt pay my traffic tickets and got locked up in city jail for a weekend. They played poker all day. A fat guy had been there for awhile and refused to shower. The other inmates told him they were going to make him shower the next day. That was the most drama.

Both said all the movies and TV are bs. If you stick to yourself, don’t get mixed in with drama, it’s just serving time.

This was my experience. I was in for 45 days between BRPP and Catahoula. Basically just watched TV all day. Those baws love them some soap operas and chess.

I had a cousin in federal penitentiary- actually two.

I too had a couple of cousins from the same family that spent a good bit of their adult life in county and state but not sure about the Federal prison systems.

Just about all of it was over drugs and the crimes that go with being a damn junkie with no legit income. Breaking and entering, strong arm robbery, armed robbery, vehicular theft, etc.
