Curious about your experiences with regard to quality of life, complications, etc. after surgery.

What levels do they want to fuse? Who is performing the surgery?

I've been involved in several. Most of your concerns all regard the extent of the scoli. Severe scoli is harder generally, as is adult correction.
My niece had hers done and had a small localized cyst develop on part of the incision that required 2 more surgeries: 1 to remove the tissue: 2nd to cosmetic repair for psychological ease (especially chicks and their backless dresses, swimsuits, etc., thing).
I can also tell you how my non corrected 80+ year old Aunt now has a literal S shaped spine, with twist, that will eventually kill her as it continues, if some other issue doesn't get her 1st. She's pretty much stuck looking left almost over shoulder, left hip and shoulder growing closer to each other in constant pain you and I cannot grasp the concept of.
Niece returned to her tumbling classes in just a few weeks, then a couple years later actual gymnastics. She's now sophomore at UGA and no one knows she ever had the surgery unless she tells them. No pain, no problems.
Girl I dated at LaTech had 2 small bumps beneath her shoulder blades that were the rod tips where her scoli had been fixed. She would occasionally have "stiff back" kinda pain/discomfort but nothing that really bothered her or prevented activity.
