I think Bryd was the enforcer at Valley Park. I learned many years later when I became a school board attorney that junior high was generally the worst school because you had all the kids that were required to go to school until they were 16 there and they really didn’t give a shite.

I remember first day of gym class some hippie that looked like he was 26 sat up in the bleachers and had a wand or broken off pool Que or something with him and he was just tapping against the benches obviously waiting on someone to frick up, and the gym coach starting yelling at him etc and they got one of the campus cops to throw him out.

Does anyone know whether that kid that was stabbed died?

The Bengals? I believe they were sponsored by the Police Athletic League. I played for Mean Machine and I dont think we had a sponsor.
I seem to remember my parents being pissed about the whole thing. Pretty sure '76 was the only year we were in existence. Our coach literally picked out our team name from the movie. We wore red jerseys, same as the Hawks, because that dumbass didnt know another team had red jerseys. To differentiate, he told us all to paint our helmets black. Also gave out MM stencils that we passed around and used to paint a white logo on the helmet. It looked about as trashy as you would imagine.

The funniest shite ever though was eye black and spray on stickem. One of the black kids was putting on eye black and his dad yelled down at him from the bleachers he was already black enough. Another kid decided to eat pop corn after applying stick em. Thank God it only half assed worked. He still had popcorn and eye black on everyone and everything, including his own Jewfro. I think we won two games all year.

I played for the Falcons and Coach Stogner. Lived on Westbrook right in front of the school.

We always called them Broadmoor Falcons.

The Hawks had a lot of Broadmoor guys. Bud Henson, Billy Dewitt, Loyd Spence, Lynn Fink, Mark Howie.

Kevin Darouse was our quarterback.

Went to Southeast Junior High. It was pretty new then. Coach Lee, Coach Rivault, Coach Gravois. What a crew.
We referred to him as J.J Grab-balls. Only way to get an "A" in P.E. was to take a shower after class. No one wanted to do that. Coach Lee had that old Ford Falcon and dropped me after school a few times.

didn't grow up in BR but at LSU there was this "pasture," some sort of farmland out in the sticks, big barn, had a softball diamond on it too, that we used to go to for fraternity/sorority keg parties, may have been Denham Springs? anyone have any idea as to where his was? all the frats and sororities used to go there

You went to Lee High? That club started when I was in school there. LHS was a great place to go to school.

That was Players Gate off O’Neal Lane - the last exit off I-12 before Denham Springs. Many good times happened there.

I think I mostly went out there on sorority grubs on a bus. Maybe they opened it up for ball games. Not sure.

Went for some birthday parties too.
