This is the only island in the Caribbean I have been to but I have to imagine there are better islands to go to than this one.
Like PPs have said, it can be seen in a day and it's basically a rock in the middle of the ocean.
There are no natural water sources on the island. They have to distill all the water they use. That should tell you all you need to know.
I cannot recommend Aruba.

A buddy of mine lived there for several years while working. Absolutely loved it outside of the distance from friends and family. But he was a single guy and that wasn't such a big deal other than his parents being a long way off (West Coast at that).
He found his smoking hot wife there and the ocean was a couple hundred feet away.
Pros: Beach, women, lifestyle, great currency exchange rate.
Cons: Roads are both loosely maintained and loosely governed. New cars are taxed bigtime so everyone ships in pieces parts and reassembles or just fixes up older ones.
So there are a lot of POS on the road driven by folks who don't drive very well who never worry about la policia.
