Another job option with that degree is to get into environmental consulting ... You will travel constantly and work a lot, but pays better. If you can get 3-5 years in consulting, it really boosts your resume and it's easier to find an easy management or government job.

Once you go consulting you won't want to get into gubment work

You can see what the state pays here in GA by going to open dot Georgia dot gov and search for dept of natural resources. There is similar site for federal salaries.

I've worked in both, currently in consulting. I don't love or hate consulting, but not opposed to going back with the feds. I think the experience just depends on which company you're consulting for (I think mine isn't that great).

Likely
I'm sure your rather not say who you work for?

most are in the $30-40k range
In environmental consulting this is true for entry level, but with 5+ years of experience you should be making $50-60K, and with 12-15 years experience at minimum $80K and likely $100K.
If you don't want to be in the field all the time, try to pick an environmental mgt type degree and focus on trying to get experience with NEPA and FERC consulting. Starting in the field for wetland assessments as a biologist can get you started on this path, but make sure you get the opportunity to learn permitting and other areas or you will be a field hand forever.

Graduated with a biology degree, now I'm a refinery working OT baller. Originally looked into working for the state doing environmental/conservation work but pay started in the $11/hr range...

I went the environmental consulting route out of college. Did mainly NEPA work with a little bit of field work mixed in. You'll never make a ton of money unless you can network enough to go off on your own.
