It’s a little off target, but a good one. Back in 1991, I turned 21, and my friends and I went to Bourbon Street to celebrate. I had a bit to drink, and I guess it was a curb or something I tripped over. When I got back up, I was mad and meant business. When I got up fully, I was looking straight at the bottom of a horse’s neck. Two police officers were there side by side on horseback. The officer on horseback, to the right, put his baton under my chin and raised my head to look directly at him. I will never forget what he said. He told me “son, we don’t take people to jail on Bourbon Street. You become what’s known as an immediate medical emergency.” I looked at him and very clearly spoke “there’s no problem here with me, Officer, I assure you.”

Yes. My buddy and I were running a curvy road by Port Bienville on our sportbikes and on the way back, just as we were getting close to Hwy 90 between Mississippi & Slidell, we passed a police truck that pulled over and was on his radio. We turned onto Hwy. 90 to head back to Slidell and a police car was flying towards us from the other direction with his lights flashing. I guess someone had called the police while we were running the curvy road.
So I look over at my buddy and I’m about to pull over for my ticket, and he looks at me then just cracks the throttle. I was like, “I guess we’re doing this.” So we hauled arse toward Slidell at over 100 mph, doing stupid crap like jumping into the oncoming lane to pass cars on those bridges where you can’t even see oncoming traffic. I guess the cop just gave up.
After I got home I had the epiphany that I was a 40 yr. old dentist with a wife and 3 kids at home, and I’m risking my life to avoid a ticket. Never rode my R6 on the street again. Bought my kid a Ninja 250, bought a trailer, and we spent the next couple years riding track days only.

had success but ended up getting busted. in about 1986 i was running late getting my girlfriend to her house one night (in only white 280zx around) so was speeding to get her home. was on 4 lane and highway patrol on other side flipped his lights on. well i knew he had to cross median so i stepped on gas (gf was tripping) and hit first dark road i could find (into an elementary school) and turned my lights out. well he came flying by and missed me down road. so i take gf home and im easing back to my house by going back way. i pull up to 4 way and across intersection sits this cop!!! he flips lights on and pulls up in front of me to block me like i was gonna run again. he comes up to me and gf's uncle (who was constable and heard about it on radio) got on radio and told him where to meet me on way back. he was my grandparents neighbor. told him im didnt see him lol and he actually let me go with nothing but warning but threatened t tell my grandparents if he ever caught me doing anything wrong ever again. sorry for novel ;o(
