I have 2 projects going on within a mile of there and havent’t heard a thing. We have a concrete pour in the morning too. Wonder if our projects will be able to work. I hope the reports of casualties are wrong also. That’s terrible and something you don’t think about often while in plants. Just get used to it.

Sounds like a possible H2S incident? Hard to believe it would be that though, given everyone has to wear monitors these days.

Means something likely broke and they lost control, had an over pressure incident, runaway reaction, etc.

Damn I hate it.

ETA: Read the article. Doesn’t appear to be explosion related. Some sort of release.

If there’s any significant volume to a release or you’re in the wrong spot, the monitor is just there to beep at you before you die.

It does more than that.

It allows the investigation team to know how much H2S was released when they report to the proper authorities.
