I've only had experiences with two during my time overseas and both were very friendly. They seem to have a joy for life similar to people from South Louisiana.

That's a great story and I think you are spot on about what can be bought based on conversations with the guy who works for me.

Thanks MH.

A couple of things I will need to consider.

Average cost of Goods and Services compared to say Colorado.
Average cost to rent a decent 2 bedroom flat.
Any potential visa pitfalls, how long to renew and how easy is it to get a resident permit?
Driving licenses? Do they accept a US license or will I need to go through the their own process?

Culturally - Any no no's for Westerners I should be aware of?

Safety - What are considered the bad parts of the Bucharest area on a map? N,S,E,W?

All very specific questions but I'd really appreciate any feedback on your actual experience living there.

never been to Romania but have been pretty close...if it is anything like the countries surrounding it...i.e. Hungary...what the guys in this thread have said about the wimmenz is very true.
