CSP is the top cert, followed by ASP.

Should also mention that the ASP, along with the GSP (graduate safety professional - qualified universities can earn this status from BCSP), are both stepping stones in the process of obtaining your CSP credentials.

To those who have obtained their ASP, how did you prepare?

Thanks for the info.

Is there a way to get in without experience in the oil field? Again, I have a lot of project management and operations supervision experience from the military, but no oil field experience.

What you need to do is quit focusing on "oilfield". Get your arse on a downstream job. There are BILLIONS of dollars of expansions going on right now and for the next 10 years. Some of these projects will have 2,000 - 5,000 craft working. Every company is different, but we have a 50:1 craft - safety ratio. that means there are a shite ton of HSE folks needed for these projects. There are projects lined up all the way from Corpus to Geismar right now.
