quote:Same as any other stupid thing that people do that can cause bodily harm: smoking, tanning beds, etc...
I don't care, they can do whatever they want just trying to understand the rationale
Doesn't matter to some people because the reward for them is worth the risk in their opinion.

There's some insane misconceptions and misinformation around steroids, and it's showing here.
Yes they can be dangerous if you don't do your homework and/or abuse them. In the correct dose, they don't cause any harm to the body. In fact, it makes you feel great. You feel 10 years younger.
Orals are where it can get sketchy because of the liver. However, it's not any worse than alcohol consumption, and there are benefits to be gained whereas there are none from consuming alcohol.
I do drink for the record.
Why would someone use steroids or prohormones? There's numerous reasons.
Some do it for the aesthetics. Some do it for the strength gains. Most seem to do it to get over a plateau, my own personal reasoning.
I still play sports and compete in my mid 30s. I want that athletic advantage. I've also hit a brick wall in the gym. I eat right, I train right. Gains have stopped. I've mixed things up, still no gains in a year. There's not many ways to get over a plateau.
Certainly I'd prefer to run a cycle of test but there are problems with that. It's illegal, I don't want the risk of getting popped with a controlled substance. My girlfriend is 100% against steroids. I'm not doing anything behind her back.
The next option is prohormones. It's legal. It's not classified as steroids though it pretty much is. I don't have to worry about getting in trouble legally or at home.

Everyone I know who has done steroids looks like he never lifted a day in his life after cycling off for a few months, whereas I've been getting bigger and stronger each year.
Do what you will, but I tend to focus on the long-term objective.
