Thinking about teaching some classes online at a community college to make some extra cash. What's that look like for PIA factor and also pay?

Learning anything from the OT would actually make people dumber

Yes. Depends on the class and what your requirements will be. Will you have to teach live, or just monitor and grade the students online activity?

I stopped because I felt the University pressured teachers to bend over backwards to make it work for the students and pass them. Just became too annoying for the pay.

Do you have a masters in your field? Recently tried this at a local community college and they were looking for a masters level of education in your field and to be in person. I have a bachelors in IT and an MBA but wanted to teach online for IT courses, was not selected for this round of adjunct faculty.

The pay sucks and it’s not really worth your time

You will be shocked at the pay. It’s terrible but also the reason tuition is so low.

You asked the OT if they have TAUGHT college classes?

The same OT that can't distinguish between plural and possessive?

The same OT that can't distinguish between "bring" and "take?"

Yes, graduate-level engineering classes. Pay was around $200 per student (up to a limit) but it wasn't much work because they just watched previously recorded classroom lectures and took exams. Most of the students were military and didn't need much guidance so email discussions and on-line office hours were rarely needed.

If you consider doing it, make sure you have very good IT support.

I will be in the same boat as you I'm sure.

I've heard the pay isn't much, and I'm not looking for much. Just some extra. I've heard $3,500 per class up to 2 classes per semester. I'd do that. I work offshore and don't do very much.

The starting pay is obviously trash but it's the job that it leads to that makes it worth your while. My sister recently was hired on full-time at a local university after working the adjunct gig for a few years and the retirement benefits and insurance is worth it.
