All the time, and it’s not as fun as you apparently think it is. Kids don’t give a shite when you explain what you do.

School visits (to teach my field) are a lot more fun.

The best way I can describe what I do is that I’m a data consultant for a commercial bank.

When I tell people what I do for a living, most people’s eyes kind of glaze over from either boredom or not knowing what the heck I’m saying.

I can’t imagine trying to explain my job to a room full of HS students for several minutes.

I have done a bit of public speaking, the most interesting of which perhaps is: my high school alma mater had a regular practice of inviting successful former graduates back to give the commencement address at their graduation ceremony - I did so at one such event, at which my then girlfriend was the valedictorian of the graduating senior class.

Yes. I’ve never done it, though. We recruit a lot of great young engineers from LSU. Some of our other managers have done it.

Once, but when I signed in at the office the secretary said she smelled a hint of weed. Big misunderstanding to say the least.

I do all the time. My message is simple: "Work hard and you too can be a millionaire playboy astronaut like me!"
