had a Jack Russell for 16 yrs and we put her down about 3 yrs ago, now the kids (17 and 15) and wife are wanting this little dog. I realize, I’m the end, I’m the one who will be doing a lot of the work. Just trying to get thoughts on their temperment and anyone’s experience with the dog.

those little dogs are a coin toss. I know folks who have 2....one is the coolest dog ever and one is a demon in the house. it isn't bad once it is outside though

thoughts on their temperment

A dog's temperament is truly dependent upon how much exercise, socialization and stimulation you can provide it and how much structure/discipline (not physical) / boundaries you allow it.

Many behavioral issues can be tied back to a dog building up energy that it can't release and destructive behaviors or unnecessary barking / high anxiety levels can follow. Let your children know that a tired dog is a happy dog.

Good luck!
