Looking at a 20yr vehicle to buy. Maybe Grey or black.

So will it look like almost new? I will drive it very sparingly, 2K mi/yr tops.

Saw an older car just a few days ago that had been coated with this and it actually looked pretty good.

What is the vehicle type?

If you're going to pay for paint correction, I would invest in ceramic coating and some sort of PPF.

That's a cheap 1K bedliner. Check back in a year and it will be chalky gray from sun fade.

We used to call it buffing back in the day.

Paint correction is for minor chips and scratches on vehicles newer than 10 years. They'll actually fill the rock chips with paint, wet sand it back level with the surface, then buff and polish.

Paint on a 20 year old vehicle is probably close to the end of it's service life. Probably need a complete repaint. At the least, get it buffed out at a decent detail shop.

Matt over at VIP Surface Concepts off Airline does great work on cars and boats.
Deloach at Xtreme Detail is good.
If you're in Denham Springs, The Shine Shop is good.
If you're in Prairieville, Kenny over at Peerless Auto Salon is the guy.

Not necessarily true. I have a 23 year old Mustang GT that stays parked and covered in my garage, so it rarely is subjected to the sun's damaging rays and has never been out in the rain. It has 14k miles and looks virtually brand new.
