somehow, the case has never been solved...no charges ever filed against anyone for the crime. how does a national attack this big not get solved ?

The Justice Department, FBI and U.S. Postal Inspection Service today announced that the investigation into the 2001 anthrax attacks, which killed five individuals and sickened 17 others, has formally concluded.
Earlier today, representatives of the FBI and Justice Department provided a 92-page investigative summary along with attachments to victims of the attacks, relatives of the victims and appropriate committees of Congress. This document sets forth a summary of the evidence developed in the "Amerithrax" investigation, the largest investigation into a bio-weapons attack in U.S. history. As disclosed previously, the Amerithrax investigation found that the late Dr. Bruce Ivins acted alone in planning and executing these attacks.

Convenient.

I remember from Bush 43's biography, he claimed an Egyptian doctor living in the US was the culprit. He committed suicide before it was traced back to him.

No charges ever filed against anyone

and yet no charges were ever filed against Ivins and no direct evidence of his involvement ever found.
many people including prominent politicians found the FBI investigation inconclusive and very lacking.

I lived in the D.C. area at the time. My wife came down with symptoms that could be attributed to anthrax. The post office that handled our mail was the one the letters went through. She had to be tested for anthrax. Luckily, the test was negative.

Army required anthrax vaccination for a few months before people started having issues and they cut it out.

Oh, I remember. I was a UPS supervisor at the time. I had been doing a ride along with a driver on the day that they determined that the letter containing anthrax had been delivered to the American Media mail room in Boca Raton that eventually killed an editor in that building.

The company I worked for was doing equipment modernization in the DC post office when this went down. We basically had to order all new equipment as the govt confiscated everything. We were very fairly compensated and the union got involved to make sure their members were ok. I did put on a hazmat suit and tour our work. Strange time.
