FYI, it occurs when you are on your back. Next time turn over

I had this for a time in my life. It would occur when sleep-deprived and stressed, and I detemined it would commence within a few minutes of lying down. Vivid dreams, accompanied by the belief that I wasn't breathing and needed to jump start it lest I die then and there. Once breathing was under conscious control, I'd try to move but could not. Fighting it caused some very weird sensations inside my head, sort of an intense sizzling noise and a very discomforting warmth. Body sensations including tumbling through the bed. When I'd finally wake up, I'd see the clock had advanced maybe 10 minutes. Hasn't happened in many years. I really wish I had gone to the sleep clinic.

Stop sleeping on your back. (Or if you sleep on your side, stop sleeping with your head pointed up as if you were laying on your back).
It used to happen all the time to me. Switched to my side, with my head facing the wall and not the ceiling, and it's been over a decade since it's happened.
The on-your-back method not only causes sleep paralysis, but it's the same position for people who have claimed to have experienced alien abductions, demonic looming figures, and out-of-body experiences. It's probably got something to do with circulation of oxygen to the brain.

Try wiggling your toes next time to snap out of it
This. I e always read that trying to consciously do something with your body can help? Like touch/hold your hands together.

I so want this to happen to me once so I can see what all the fuss is about.
