All the man wanted was to be a General for WW2 but was such a genius that Roosevelt wouldn't let him. Roosevelt wanted Marshall around him at all times to better influence the situation of the wholenUS war effort.
Army Chief of Staff
Secretary of Defense
Secretary of State
When Marshall was a young officer, his superior officer said "would i rather him serve under me again? Yes, but I'd rather serve under him."
General Hagood called him a "military genius."
From Wikipedia:
In a television interview after leaving office, Harry S. Truman was asked which American he thought had made the greatest contribution of the preceding thirty years. Without hesitation, Truman picked Marshall, adding "I don't think in this age in which I have lived, that there has been a man who has been a greater administrator; a man with a knowledge of military affairs equal to General Marshall."[56]
Also from Wikipedia:
Orson Welles said in an interview with Dick Cavett that "Marshall is the greatest man I ever met... I think he was the greatest human being who was also a great man... He was a tremendous gentleman, an old fashioned institution which isn't with us anymore."[57]

For the overall European Forces Commander position which was created six months after Pearl Harbor, Marshall had to pick one man out of nearly 400 candidates. He chose Eisenhower over many other generals that had more seniority. We all know how that decision worked out.

Say what you mean to say. Don't cower behind insinuations.
I know Eisenhower isn't popular on this board but he did win the European front and is considered the 9th most popular president among conservative voters.
Not saying he didn't frickup at times, but acting like he was a failure is immature.

I think the other poster was complimenting Marshall for making a great decision since picking Eisenhower out of that 400 was like finding the right needle in the haystack.

Ugh, I hope your right. Ive heard enough paranoid BS. I think there was a thread on here not too long ago that was very anti Eisenhower and thought this was a byproduct.
