Today is just typical of the traffic situation in this town. I would guess that easily 75% of traffic problems on the interstate are caused by idiots who haven't figured out how to drive in a straight line at 60 mph.

There are FOUR accidents on I-10 right now (two east, two west) on the north side of the Acadian exit. Traffic, for those traveling west, is backed up almost to the Bluebonnet exit.

Seriously, what can done about this? I think those at fault should immediately have their licenses revoked for at least two weeks and have to pay an added fine of $500. Do you think that would get people's attention?

This is a major source of the problem. Wau too many drivers go +-15 mph of the posted speed

That's why I like general aviation. Driving is dangerous.

Also, Louisiana auto insurance is sky high for a reason. MOFOs cannot drive!

Louisiana drivers be fricked up

Banning all cell phone use in cars would be a nice start.

According to my traffic app there are 2 wrecks. The rest of it is probably rubber-neckers. I wish they would be ticketed.

Enforcement of the left lane being for passing and faster traffic would do wonders.

I normally agree with the left lane for passing rule but inside city limits I would love to see all vehicles over 4 wheels be required to stay in the far left lane unless exiting. I am convinced by the number of 18 wheeler accident lawyer billboards that the trucks are a major contributing by factor. Keep them in a single lane.

Add to the fact, BR has no systems in place to coordinate removing accidents from lanes of traffic in a timely manner only ads to the traffic issues.

Seems like a good idea until you get behind some old person going 40

That is a horrible idea that would make traffic 1000x worse for 2 reasons.

1) It would force large trucks and 18 wheelers to have to cross multiple lanes of traffic in a short amount of time just to catch their exit (sometimes in gridlock traffic). This is why you see most 18 wheelers stay in the far right lane, so they don't get trapped trying to squeeze in before they pass their exit.

2) The companies that own these trucks track their speed, so as as a result the drivers tend to drive less than 5 miles over the speed limit. The left lane is meant for passing. Forcing trucks that tend to not drive much faster than the speed limit to stay in the passing lane would turn the right lane into the defacto passing lane

I'm about to head to lake Charles. I hope that the accidents are cleared.

You should have known better than to get on I10 during daylight.

Ideal drive times are weekdays at 1am-6am

Yeah that is what we need is semis trying to cross 2-3 lanes of traffic to hit an exit. That will DEFINITELY cause less accidents.

That's a negative ghost rider. They stopped this a few years ago, after a lawsuit I think, as evidenced by the sheer number of trucks hurtling down the intestate at 85+.
