NUKE EM. Serves 2 purposes. Kills the shitheads, and will make them unable to pump their precious oil. Radiation is a bitch.

Personally if I was in the situation that my head was about to be cut off in no way would I read their shite, and patiently wait peacefully for the end. I'm spitting, cussing, biting, kicking, and anything I can to go down fighting. No way would I ever be a promo video for them. Frick ISIS

There is no winning. Just losing on both sides all the way around. But violent religious or fanatics of any stripe can only be dealt with one way. By eliminating them like insects. There is no negotiating with insane true believers.

Much like the fanatical Japanese of WWII. The only way to win is complete, total victory.

Um, most politicians at that level are narcissistic sociopaths. We don't elect our best and brightest only our wealthiest, most misguided and most entitled. So this is not really a surprise.

Well, after he saw Foley get killed, I'm guessing he knew what was about to happen to him. It would be more believable in this scenario.

Excellent post, Darth. Unfortunately, as you said, no one has the stomach to do such a thing. This group continues to grow. And it will only get worse. As I posted on the last page, there has been a lot of intel gathered that seemed to just somehow magically disappeared (or as some may say, never happened). Maybe this current adminstration thinks that the old isolationist route is the best method to deal with ISIS - if that is the case, they either have their head in the sand or just don't care (which makes sense because they are on the out anyway...).

Sooner or later ISIS is going to attack us here. They've made it clear this is their intentions. WE can either deal with them over there now or we will deal with them here later.

You know I'm a big history nut. One thing that the study of history has taught me is that to defeat an enemy you have to break their will to fight. For some enemies this means make them see that continuing to fight will only result in their death. Well that won't work with ISIS because they actively seek death. They think that dying for their god is something to strive for. So what are we to do? Well, history gives us the answer. you see, we have in the past faced a very similar foe who would not surrender and actively sought out death in the name of their god. I'm talking about the Japanese. So how did we make them finally admit defeat? The easy answer is we "nuked" them. And while we did, that's an oversimplification of what we actually did. What made Japan finally surrender is that we made them understand that if they continued to fight, their entire civilization faced total annihilation.

That's what we have to do with ISIS and all the other Islamic terrorists for that matter. If we actually want to stop this madness we have to show them that either they stop, or they face not just their own deaths, but the total destruction of their world.

I know many here will read that and recoil in anything from shock, horror, or even derision. OK, fair enough, put forth another solution that you think can make people like ISIS stop what they're doing.

You won't hear me arguing that. Like you, I am also a history nut - and this group equals the fanaticism of the Japanese of WWII.

The unfortunate thing is that there isn't a solution this administration is willing to do. They seem to think (if that at all) that killing a few will make them stop. My bet is that ISIS will spurn more groups and that within the next 20 or so years (or sooner, if left unchecked as they are), there will be another "world war" - however, this time it might another replay of the Crusades...

This is disgusting and is obviously going to provoke a response.

Sad but true. Up[ to this point we've only gone in with half measures. We're so wrapped up in trying to make them like us and not wanting to "offend" anyone that we've blinded ourselves to the fact that to people like ISIS, there is literally nothing they want from us short of doing to every man woman and child here what they've done to these reporters. To them we're "apostates" and thus below dog shite and deserving of death. Short of killing ourselves, there is no bargaining chip we have that they want. There is no reasoning or negotiating with a group when the only things you have that they want is your life.

This x100000000000

While our Special Ops success would look good on paper, it won't do anything to stem the tide - and heaven forbid that they fail/get captured. It's just going to get worse, my friend.

Let's not forget that we did try to get these guys back earlier this summer. It didn't work ( LINK, LINK). There was really nothing we could do to save them.

The best thing to do is end them. Task Force Black going in there without putting tons of boots on the ground and continued air strikes are the best course of action at this point.

The world is not a nice place. Let real adults make the tough decisions best for the US and let the pretenders play on message boards and represent the handful of isolationist/non-interventionist/head-in-sand congressional districts.

Air strikes only work with targets in the open - or in places where the targets are known. They won't call strikes on a building full of non-combatants just to get a few bad guys. And the Task Force won't eliminate the threat.

I'm little horrified by this, but in terms of it's effectiveness I can't argue against it.

ETA: What you have to ask yourself though, is it OK to kill innocent people to eliminate a threat to yourself.
