Why spend all that money on an outdated and outmoded way of researching and reading? Put all the books into an air-conditioned storage unit until they can be scanned, page for page, into a computer and uploaded on to a school's intranet. Then sell the books to high bidders

I once spent a day in the back rooms of the Library of Congress. The card catalog was mind blowingly huge - found the card I was looking for in the 27,000th drawer (near that number) and there were rooms more full of the catalog! Getting escorted around through back halls and stairwells not open to the public was quite enjoyable. The entire building - even the areas not built for public use - was top notch; they knew how to build stuff back then.
