That is certainly the size Venus should look. If the camera has a filter it will have a bluish hue as well.

As for

Wrong side of the sun for Venus, and would have to be wide angle as well to catch it and the eclipse in same shot.

That is most certainly lens flare.
you can see the crescent from the eclipse in the flare image!
You wouldn't see a disc for Venus, ...and if you did it wouldn't have that crescent.

It's absolutely lens flare. Then again, you admitted yourself it's "circling" around the sun. Is that what Venus does? Rapidly move around the sun?

Do you honestly think Venus is moving that quickly? Seriously? Quickly enough to track to an entire different side of the sun during the course of a solar eclipse?

It's lens flare.

No, it isn't. The sun/moon in the reference photo are much, much larger than his. Don't look at the size of the light in his photo, look at the size of the sun. It's tiny. Venus would be 1/6 the size of his sun.

It appeared in some of my photos as well.

I'm 99% sure it is Regulus.

That's your retina boiling and your camera frying. See a doctor.

I'm kidding. Those are beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing. We only had 77% and I'm jealous of what you saw. I took a picture through a loose welding glass at the peak and the eclipse is not even visible:

Should I put my eclipse glasses on before looking at your pictures?
