Yeah, what Alex Jones did is disgusting, but OJ murdered two people and was only charged with $33 million in compensation. That is fricking insane that Alex is being charged more than that.
33 milliom like 20 years ago?

This defamation lawsuit verdict didn’t set any kind of new precedent that hasn’t been there as long as defamation lawsuits have occurred.
Why do you say that? Let’s say in about five years one of these trans kids who is now in his/her mid 20s starts second guessing that his/her transition was a horrific mistake. Then he/she starts listening to the likes of Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro and realizes what his/her evil parents, doctors, and teachers have done to him/her. He/she rightly lashes out at his/her parents and then kills themselves.
Are the parents and doctors going to blame themselves for it? frick no, they’re going to be looking where that child may have gotten another idea that was different than the one they were groomed into. Then they blame those two for their child’s death and sue them instead of looking inward?
Given how I mocked the Evangelicals when they said if we legalize gay marriage that we’d have pedophiles looking to have one on one time with your kids and sexually groom them… were they actually wrong? Now I’m pro-gay marriage and think at least 85% of the gay community is against that shite, but if you’re literally against a grooming teacher turning his classroom into an almost literal gay nightclub, you are called a homophobe. No I’m done with this slippery slope. Don’t like Alex Jones but he was the second one banned after Milo on Twitter, and I’m not going down this road again, especially since it’s now at the legal system.

Because it didn’t. There’s been plenty of defamation lawsuits that have been settled in the same manner. And to go even further, it was settled in part because Jones refused to cooperate and it became a default ruling. He had very opportunity to defend himself and he chose not to.

That first scenario you listed, again at face value, doesn’t meet the burden of a defamation suit. You would have to meet the burden of negligence on Peterson or Shapiro’s behalf.
Honestly, you’re just going on wild goose chase to try to defend Jones here.

What exactly are you basing your complaint about punitives on aside from “big number bad”
It’s to deter people, including jones from profiting off of their misdeeds.
If jones made 50 mil from his “coverage” and. He owes 5 to the families in compensatory why should he keep the other 45? Seems pretty unjust to me.

Oh “The Truth”. Here’s Your Truth:
My government is telling me this evil genocidal mother fricker is “The Truth” when he should be tried by a military tribunal for crimes against humanity and then be hung behind the courthouse:

So excuse after all the years of lying with people claiming to be “The Truth” are nothing but a bunch of fricking liars and have ruined this country and the world. I’m biased as all frick, but at least I’m honest about it. All your post is on “The Truth”:

I could definitely be wrong. I’m not familiar with infowars business model. But I really doubt he made 1/4 of that much on sandy hook coverage.

Jones makes money as a snake oil salesman, claiming his vitamins and diet drugs will cure your diseases and make you healthier, not from his Sandy Hook lies. If you want to put him out of business, go after him for that, not for his outrageous political opinions. He came to prominence in political circles for his 9/11 truth and Iraq war opposition. Should he be sued for defamation for those views if prevailing society deems them lies?

45 million for this BS. I have heard much more lies from MSM with the Vax that has killed tens of thousands of people. Why can't people sue the MSM. This is all to bankrupt and silence him

I should have been clear that those number were were purely illustrative of the larger point.
Let’s say his Sandy Hook content comprised ten percent of his infowars content over the past 10 years. I think it’s fair to make his punitives about 10% of his revenue from that time period.
Again the numbers are an example. I have no idea what the numbers are and I assume plaintiffs came up with that 45 mil number based on something as opposed to just throwing out something random.

People were saying the same thing when I defended Jones saying he shouldn’t be banned from social media. Now look where we are, and again, no fan of Jones. Barring Republicans just destroying the Left in the next five years and doing what DeSantis just did in Florida with the state attorney, yeah we’re going to be there in four years.

The fact is you think we are above a kangaroo court. We absolutely are not and it has happened several times recently. A network (the specific one escapes me for the moment) directly threatened the Derek Chauvin jury saying they know where they live. SNL directly threatened that jury as well telling people (“””jokingly””” but we know what they’re going for) saying that if Chauvin isn’t convicted that rioting and burning businesses isn’t bad since “they have insurance.” Now in this scenario if Chauvin was let off and people burnt their business to the ground, the business owners should sue SNL for that. And here’s the sketch and I quote:
quote:
White male anchor: And I think we can all agree that no matter how bad things are, destroying property is never the answer.
Black female anchor: Ummmm… I wouldn’t say that.
Black male anchor: It’s just property.
Black female anchor: There’s insurance.
That was a direct threat to the jury. Meanwhile these twats sit there in their Manhattan high rises not giving a shite as the world burns. They are despicable and evil and want us at each other’s throats. But they got away with Chauvin who I personally think was guilty of second degree manslaughter.
Then you move onto Rittenhouse. MSNBC also tried to directly fox and threaten the jury in that case. The judge when he found out about it threw them out of the courtroom. I was home with my parents during that, and they said to watch NewsNation and it’s real news (or “The Truth” as Sao likes to put it). Given I know this story better than they do, NewsNation is flipping their shite that MSNBC was banned from the courtroom and this is undemocratic, which right out of the gates makes me know they’re full of shite. Now having the last laugh that they’ve hired Chris Cuomo, which has pissed my parents off thinking they found a non-biased network.
And fortunately the Rittenhouse jury was brave and gave the right sentence. But with those alone and escalation, where do you think we’ll be in five years, Belle? We’re on a very, very bad trajectory.

Anyone who believes someone who says “I am the Truth” is a really, really stupid person after 2020.

Lol. Some lies are less equal than others. Richard Jewell's life was absolutely ruined by the mainstream media in this country, and yet the highest court in the state of Georgia dismissed a defamation suit against the AJC due to Jewell being a "limited purpose public figure", which I would argue he became only because of the media's defamation in the first place. Jones is an easy target specifically because he has political views that are hated by 80% of Americans.

BS. You would pay for Alex Jones autograph on his diet pills you carry around and thank him for telling the "truth" about Sandy hook.
