Just a couple of weeks ago, a NYC EMT got fired for helping a student choking on her lunch.

We don't know whether to wind our watches or scratch our asses in this country.

Exactly.

As a former teacher, I cannot imagine watching one of my students keel over in class and just watching it happen. We had those EKG machines at my school and if I had a student that was suffering or dying due to a heart issue, I would feel like I had to use it.

And then for the other students around, you would have to tell them, "It's okay. Just let him die. It's what his mother wants."

Going out on your own terms is one thing, but asking for schools to play hospice is another.
