He wasn't pulled over for a traffic stop. He got in a minor accident and called the cops himself and waited at the scene for him.
When the cop arrived, he got out of his car to show him his license and insurance information.
And was shot.
When you put it like that, maybe I'm just a horrible human being, it gives you a good chuckle. But maybe it makes me chuckle because of how ridiculous the story is.

He obviously startled the cop who was already on edge.

Perhaps this should be standard practice. If they kill enough innocent civilians they will eventually only have the bad dudes left.

The cop was on edge because he probably deals with dangerous retards all day. It's not an unreasonable assumption.

Why would he be on edge responding to a fender bender?

The cop was on edge for being called to write a traffic accident report?
It almost appears as if there's more to the story.

Yes, yes it is.
These people called the cops themselves for a fender bender to get a police report.

So if he's on edge all day long and fears everyone, then he can just start blasting away everytime he's triggered. What could go wrong?

Except this guy was not getting pulled over. This trooper fricked up big time!

Because of the people they deal with throughout the day.
Dude didn't deserve to get shot. We all agree about that. I just think he did himself a disservice but jumping out with something black in his hand in the middle of the night.
I naturally assume a cop who is about to question me (or who is around me) is stupid. A stupid person with a gun. So I act accordingly.

i hope ol' boy does well, because he is about to get paid and the cop should be terminated immediately

I usually side with cops but this is fricked up.
I find it even more disturbing that he was backed by our judicial system.

Actually, he is getting nothing and the court said the cop was justified.
Our legal system is fricked.

Negative. Courts said it was justified.
Traffic stops everywhere just got a lot more interesting.

They usually deal with people who are breaking laws and going to jail for various reasons. It's part of their job to deal with these people. They, by and large, don't deal with law-abiding people because there's no reason to. I'm sorry you can't grasp that concept.
Most of the people they deal with are low IQ and don't like cops.
