If they are in my house with my family I'm shooting to kill

The last guy?? How many times has this happened to you?

Twice in the last, probably, three years or so. Property crime here is sky high.
The first guy was just fricking with my vehicle. Sucks, but not shocking. The second was just staring in at us at 1am. That made me more nervous because whatever he came to do, he didn't seem to care if we were awake or not. And when I confronted him he walked off slowly, like he was taking a stroll in the park. I was strongly tempted to put a round in the dirt behind him to get him moving.

I’m sure the thugs parents were both working 3 jobs to make ends meet and these are just good sweet kids looking for attention
Wish they could charge the parents as well bc they sure as hell weren’t supervising or generally aware of anything in their children’s lives. Fn trash

Good lord man, I’d have gotten the hell out a long time ago.

It's actually a pretty good area.
A lot of junkies here, though (Seattle area).

Heroin addicts? I never figured the Seattle burbs would have much crime

Yeah, heroin, meth. Low violent crime rate but WA is usually a top 5 property crime state. Pretty sure the whole west coast is pretty bad in that area.

Same in Juneau. Property crime has exploded in the past 5 years or so.

What do y'all think causes that in the PNW? Drugs coupled with the high cost of living? I'd guess meth usage would be higher in Appalachia
Posted on 10/1/18 at 9:53 pm to fallguy_1978
A lot of it is homelessness. I don't really have any explanation beyond that.

I personally think there's a network of "fences" buying this stolen stuff, moving it out and selling it elsewhere. All of this property crime in the NW kinda increased at the same time and I don't think a lot of the stolen stuff is being sold here
Probably giving junkies pennies for the dollar, and moving this stuff arounfpd the country

I'm not sure where we are on property crime but I sure as hell know about violent crime. Luckily 95% of it happens in areas that I never venture into.

If I look outside and see someone breaking in a neighbor’s car or shed, I’m calling 911 and giving descriptions and info.
If I confront the thief, he will likely either run and get away or confront me and provoke a dangerous situation.
I’d rather let him keep looking for change in the console while the cops head there to arrest his arse.
If he’s trying to get in the home, we have a different story.

If I remember correctly, central Washington was one of the original Ground Zeroes back in the day for homemade meth. The rural West and West Coast in general is and has been for a very long time the cultural home for the meth trade - more so than even Appalachia or wherever.
My impression when I lived out there was that a lot of the homeless and addicts weren't actually from the large metro areas where they squatted. They were from the rural areas originally and migrated to the larger metro areas where they had a friendlier local attitude, more resources, and better product.
