AC capacitor seems to be going bad. OK to leave ac on tonight?

After doing a youtube search it seems the capacitor is going bad in our ac (loud buzzing/humming, could get the fan to spin once I pushed on it). Is it ok to leave the ac on tonight until I can get it fixed tomorrow? Or could it do more harm. Noise just started tonight.

When they quit for me in the past it never hurt anything else. Unit just stopped cooling until it was replaced

It will not hurt anything but the unit is not going to do much for you

those big arse capacitors explode. ours looked like a can of coke that had been left in the freezer.

Well Im hoping its just the capacitor and not the fan motor since the unit is only 6 years old. The fan spins but you have to nudge it to get it going.

Fans are pretty straightforward to change. Take the old one in with you. And don't bend the fan blades when you take it off the shaft.

Just swap out the capacitor. $40 each but always buy two to have a spare.

No. Ideal Appliance Parts. It's a non descript parts store in an industrial park on Edwards Ave in elmwood.
All the part supply places will have what you need, it's just most won't sell it to you without a license. They really the only ones in new Orleans area I found.

When you take the capacitor off DO NOT touch the connections. Take a screwdriver and jump it across the connections to discharge the power stored in it.
ETA: Unless the top/bottom is blown off then you have nothing to worry about.

You can leave it on, but you're house will not start cooling until you replace the capacitor.
