I know him well, too. Went to high school with him. Anybody that knows him will tell you the same thing...the guy is the very definition of a hero.

Didn't know I'd get a "heroic" accidental shooter.

I knew Lee and Dean, both, back from the Bengal days. Both were good guys.

I shared an office with David Seymour at Probation and Parole. He was my office mate. His wife Cynthia also worked as a probation officer in the same office.

David wasn’t a trainee. He was a trainer. They were teaching a class to new P&P Officers.

I still have an issue with what happened. Yes, it was an accident, obviously, but this was not the only safety incident that occurred in those classes. The State Police were arrogant and they didn’t treat the probation and parole training as seriously as they should have.

You mentioned that they didn’t have red gun training weapons at the time, and that is false. They weren’t the repeater training weapons that are available today. They were just the solid plastic “bricks”, as we call them now. LSP had just gotten them. It was relatively new, and they chose not to use their new training gear on the lowly P&P trainees.

Can you help me find David Seymour’s son, David Glen Seymour, II? I’d like to look him up maybe on Facebook....I’m actually the Wildlife and Fisheries Cadet that was doing the scenario when it happened.....
