Was the foreward written by Harvey Updyke?

That’s

“A Poisoned Tree”

Ahem

He was angry with Auburn,
Told Cousin-wife, but still it churned,
He was Angry for the Gumps,
He turned his wrath, to ancient trunk,

So began to grind his gears,
Down to Toomer he did steer
And he watered it with vile,
Potent potion, black as bile,

And it died, by day and night,
But the Gump was none too bright,
To the radio he called,
His foul plot, regaled it all

Updyke gloated for a time,
Made to suffer for his crimes,
But now that Gump’s dead you see,
And Toomer’s Corner still has trees

Is this one of those late night, high people threads?

It was more about me hearing a snippet of it in Peaky Blinders and wondering what it was saying. It’s an interesting poem and not entirely clear as to its meaning
