A/C cycling on and off frequently- UPDATE IN OP

So my A/C is working, as it cools my home to the desired set temperature. However, it is cycling on and off constantly
It will run for 10-15 minutes
Turn off
Kick back on 10 seconds later for about 5 seconds, then kick off again
Will stay off for 5-10 minutes, and then repeat
Any ideas on what is causing this?
Update****
Tech came out. Was simply a clogged/dirty drain line causing the issue. Cleaned it out and is good to go. Said to make sure to poor bleach down the drain once a month
It will run for 10-15 minutes

I'm thinking bad thermostat.
This can do harm to your compressor.
Make sure your vents aren't blowing on your thermostat.

Needs coolant (freon or whatever they're using now).

So anything I can do/check or should I call a technician out for sure?

Is it a newer evaporator/furnace/air handler? If so. There may be a function that energizes the blower motor without circulating freon. If that happens after the cooling cycle it might be a feature that dries off the coils.
Just speculating.
Just speculating.

I would go outside to see if the compressor/condenser has that short cycle also.

What kind of thermostat is it and have you installed a newer one recently (like a smart thermostat) that may require more power than a basic one. Reason I ask is that if it needs to charge a battery or power an lcd screen it's probably robbing power from your AC wire on your thermostat. If it's too much drain it can kick your unit off every time it does it. The fix for this is to use a separate common power wire from the unit to thermostat. in my house this wire was blue and was already run between the unit and thermostat but was not hooked up. Just tucked behind the thermostat.

Man that was complete giberish to me
Unit is a 2012. Anyway, I bought the house in October so I am under warranty for a year paid by the seller. It is a $75 fee to get a tech out here. I am leaning to doing that. Just wanted to see if their was something simple I could check

Probley a bad t-stat, is your inside fan turning off and on or just the outside unit?

It is a 2012 Honeywell. It has a display screen but I don't believe it is a smart system

Inside fan is what kicks on and off. Haven't checked to see if outside does as well

Ha. My bad. I could have worded it better.
Honestly, considering the warranty, a $75 call out might be the easiest option.

That's what I'm thinking

Remember that time you went 32 days without changing the return air filter? Yep, you fricked it up.

I would say this is not something that you are going to be able to fix on your own...not an emergency, but go ahead and schedule a visit from the AC man.

if you've had it charged up recently, it sounds like it's over charged.

Most modern thermostats will NOT let the unit short cycle. I still say that's your first suspect.

Yeh I have a tech coming out tomorrow. Want to get a hold of it to prevent a major issue
