Maybe get the dog checked out by a Vet. It could be in pain from something and will nip if it's aggravated such as trying to be moved, etc.

GIven the complete and total lack of details... and the quite slow manner in which you are bringing additional information... I'm saying yes, it's an overreaction. We don't know much of anything about what really happened.

I would first take to vet and see if any easily treatable conditions have developed that may had led dog to become more aggressive. At 12 there could be sight, hearing issues, or some other stuff causing the dog pain that are causing dog to react in fear. May or may not be easily treatable, but I think you would feel better knowing one way or the other.

Nope…

I have no tolerance at all for dogs who are aggressive towards humans…they will eventually either harm someone that you care about or they will get a lawsuit filed against you and cost you a hell of a lot of money.

If that is your decision, do it immediately before you have a chance to change your mind.
