Thread helped convince me to build an 8' fence.
Good for you - hell, I'd build forms and make it concrete. "frick you" indeed with concrete.
Razor wire would be too far, IMHO.

Yeah, but spot lights would be a good call

Go 8'
My neighbor has a dog that can stand and look over my 6' fence.

Depending on zoning and HOA policies, 8' might not be an option. Regardless, 8' is wildly unnecessary unless you really fricking hate your neighbors and want to remind them of it daily. If that's the case, go with Matrix system from Ameristar with the ballistic rated plates, M50 crash-rated cables run through the c-channel, and nice cantilever gate with the V-Mag operator and a wedge barrier.Your backyard will be a god damned fortress.

8 ft fences blow over easier in storms, more surface area for the wind to catch. You'll need deeper beefier footings.
That's the case with every fence. The taller the height, the deeper the footing. The deeper the footing, generally the wider the diameter.

Check local codes, 8' is max in most areas except they only count the fence boards, not the mud wall or chain wall.
So, if you put down a 6" or 8" bottom (board or cement), and start the 8' boards on top, you can have a 8 1/2 ft or 8 ft 8 in fence.
I put up an 8 ft when I moved in 5 years ago (Metairie), none of my neighbors complained. Some took down their own fence in favor of mine. I'm 1 off of a corner, so i have 4 back yards that boarder my side-yard. Needed the 8 ft for privacy.
Plus I had it set a few inches into my yard and I paid 100% of it. They can't say a thing about it. It's within code and on my property.
