No one sees fit to mention that the victims were "standing watch" at the P.G.T. Beauregard monument when the incident happened.
NOLA dot com edited their article to reflect this detail. But I don't think WWL ever did, they just mentioned that it occurred at the intersection of Esplanade and Wisner.

Not sure if the monuments was the main motivating factor in the incident. I've heard of drive by paintball shootings from all over the city in the past couple of weeks.
