People will have all this "great" advice, but the reality is, kids/people are all different. If consequences don't factor into his decision making, why would you use a consequence as a tool?

Yea man, every parent I think has been there. You learn more patience from kids than anything else in this world.
Just don’t cave in every time and let him know the boundaries. He will learn. He is 3 and doesn’t know any better yet. If he doesn’t do some other type off school or pre-school, put him in one for next year as it will help him tremendously.

He has some big feelings over not being the center of you and mom’s attention. Most likely he doesn’t consciously know why or what’s causing these feelings and the outbursts are his frustration at not being able to communicate and emotionally resolve those feelings. If you ask him what’s wrong, you’ll either get a superficial answer or “I don’t know.”
