You can see the effects of the radiation in the photos taken during the event. The radiation caused all the photos to have streaks at the bottom. It has the effect of visually capturing the radiation people were being exposed to.

Very interesting to learn all about Chernobyl. It happened before I was born, but after working with a lot of neutron experiments recently it's hard to think about a reactor on this scale exploding. There's so many safety precautions to prevent radiation now that I'd hope nothing like this ever happens again
