A good daycare is about $150 a week around here so let's say you spend $25k a year. Get them in public school and save all that afterwards. Paying private school prices is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.

Agreed.

Unless you live in a horrible area with a dumpster fire school system, paying for private school is a waste of money unless you're aiming for your kid to go to an Ivy or something of that caliber. Even then it's a crapshoot and mostly about extracurriculars.

I don't send my kids to private schools because I think the schools are better, I send them there because I think the students are better.

You're on the wrong side of Brentwood j/k.

On the real, those are good schools, Ravenwood needs some relief from the growth, that Nolensville school will help

We pay about $750 per month for our 2 kids for three days per week. Thank the Lord for grandmothers.

You and your wife need to act like human beings and raise your own damn kids. Money is not everything. I guarantee your woman knows this in her heart.

I will never understand why people make new humans, then turn around and immediately ship them out of the house to be warehoused by strangers. What is the point?

I think the damn private schools would be cheaper than daycare.

I don't think you have to worry about private school tuition.

Someone else said it best -- unless you're in a terrible area with terrible schools, you're wasting money if you're paying a ton for private schooling just to have your kid go to state school.

I had several fraternity brothers who went to lavishly expensive private schools and wound up at UA. For the most part, they were no more prepared than those of us who went to public schooling.

Given the amount of freedom you have, college preparedness and achievement has more to do with study and attendance habits, maturity, and parental oversight and expectation (i.e. being on a short leash).
