My kids attend one of the catholic schools in NYC that is not being shutdown.
Several of those schools were already on the brink of closure. As you would expect, many of them also serve underprivileged communities and there was some pushback about closing these schools pre-Covid. Covid is the final nail in the coffin and gives them the cover to shut the schools down.
I imagine this will be the case for some underperforming/troubled public schools as well.

Why would anyone pay tuition for private school “online” learning?
Do you live under a rock? I'm supposing the tuition would be less, but there still expenses involved.Like salaries for the instructors, as an example.
I fully understand that you have no appreciation for an education, but some do.

I still can’t believe how the Catholic Church went along with the shutdown of Mass with hardly any complaints, especially during Easter. What kind of faith do you really have if you think you’ll be punished for going to God’s house? If you really believe in the afterlife, what do you have to fear?
How is the Church going to get people to come back to services? I think that Major League Baseball will have less of an attendance problem.
Gutless Bishops are the problem. I know many priests who if they wouldn’t lose their ability to have their vocations would have done “underground” Mass. it still may come to that.
