Damn this thread makes me not want a 2.7 anymore. I guess I should spend the extra on the 5.0

2016 3.5 ecoboost 4x4 with 33k miles. Its been programmed since around 6k miles. No issues so far.
Averaging around 17 mpg with a leveling kit and on 34" tires

Also, any feedback on the new fuel saver system that cuts off motor when stopped? Sounds like a pain. Is it noticeable?
If its defeatable then its okay.
Personally I find the GM method of turning off cylinders (v8 becomes v4 when the engine is loping) far less annoying.

quote:based on what I've read here, it's 3 before breakage, 7 if the chain breaks and wrecks other stuff. It's a gimmick engine I wouldn't touch with a 10' pole.
So is it 7 or 3?

Timing chain and cam phaser issues are well known. There is no way a twin turbo v6 will be as reliable as the v8 over the long haul. There's just more parts in the system.
Mileage gains are negligible.
My money would be on the v8.

It's three grand to fix before it breaks, 6 to 7 if it breaks. And ford claims it's because you went 27 miles over a standard oil change.

My 2013 had the issue at around 90k
Traded it in back in January for a GMC
No ragrets

It's a 3.5 V6. That's your problem. It should be illegal to call that a truck.

He pulled the trigger on it this afternoon. Has 70 miles on it and got it for 34,900.

I have that exact truck. I love it. The mileage is DEFINITELY overstated. I get about 17 in city and 20 on highway. It is VERY fun to drive though.
