Police arrested a woman Monday accused of deserting her one-year-old son in an alley Friday evening. Baton Rouge police were called to 10210 Avenue L where they were told Miochia Paul, 19, had left her child at 6:30 p.m. with “other juveniles,” according to a Baton Rouge police report. Paul is said to have driven up to a group of juveniles and asked them to take the baby to his father, who was not at the scene, the report says. The juveniles were related to the father’s ex-girlfriend, Baton Rouge police spokesman L’Jean McKneely said. Police tried several times to contact Paul before Children and Family Services arrived and took custody of the child, according to the report. Three days later, police arrested Paul Monday at the Department of Children and Family Services, 160 S. Ardenwood, the report says. Paul told police she dropped the child off but that “she did not do anything wrong.” Paul, 2080 North Lobdell Blvd., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of child desertion, and her bail is $3,500.
