I think many in The South misunderstand/estimate the Confederacies heritage in border states.
Anyway..
They said they enlisted not just to enlist, but to see through the entire war unto death. To me that seems like they're all-in on fighting against the enemy, not just a localized family/clan issue.
My gut says these guys are full of shite.
