I will say that I know one. She is a sweet girl and her dogs are trained very well.

i remember a fun argument in one of these threads a few months ago but i can't remember who it was with

we were discussing why take the risk of owning a pitbull period and he said "why ride in a car, because you are more likely to get killed in a car accident than get killed by a pitbull"

it was a fun thread

A page or so ago I mentioned my friend who is a pit owner and the father of small kids. He's a good guy who works had and provides for his wife and kids but I have zero doubt the OT would judge him as trash if he were to walk into a room.

I personally would not own one of them but my kids, including my 5 yr old little girl (well 6 yr old as of today) has been around their dog. She's a sweet dog but that dose not mean I don't watch her like a hawk.

FWIW his dog is just a normal looking pit (if there is such a thing) and is not one of those 'roided up abominations of nature.

And yes, it's possible for any dog to snap and bite. But the difference is when the family golden retriever bites your kid you're looking at more than likely a bandage and some neosporin. When a Pit attacks then the discussion is more along he lines of reconstructive surgery if you're lucky or funeral arrangements if you're not

I'm willing to bet a golden retriever has longer fangs than a pitbull.

I do that when my dog is around kids, just like a responsible owner should, regardless of breed. a dog could easily just get too excited and knock a kid on the ground breaking the kids arm or something. you aren't always just watching for a snap or a bite.

IT's not about the length of the teeth that causes the severity of a dog attack.

That's not true. Longer fangs mean they can rip more flesh and cause deeper lacerations.

no, the strength of the jaw is more important. sharp/long teeth only go so far without the incredible jaw strength that pits have.

when pitbulls bite, they don't seem to want to let go

You don't need incredible bite force to penetrate human skin.
