not really. well trained dogs don't just attack for no reason.

And yes, it's possible for any dog to snap and bite. But the difference is when the family golden retriever bites your kid you're looking at more than likely a bandage and some neosporin. When a Pit attacks then the discussion is more along he lines of reconstructive surgery if you're lucky or funeral arrangements if you're not.

I would never let a pit bull around children, period. Just wouldnt do it.

not everyone likes labs. I think they are overrated as hell. They are stupid and puppies for a good 3-4 years and they shed like crazy.

Umm, is this a discussion about everyone's favorite breed? I'm not certain of the point of your comment. Of course not everyone likes labs. I don't get it.

it just always gets brought up in any pit bull threads

"should've had a lab"
"Labs would never do this"
"Labs only bite they don't kill"

More than likely they won't. But that does not mean it cannot happen. It can happen. And it can happen at any moment. If your dog is a pit then you have to be prepared to be a responsible owner and realize that your dog is capable of killing people, especially children or the elderly, and take the necessary precautions to ensure that does not happen. And by that, I man you've got to do more than trust your dog's "training'.

as long as lazy, trash owners keep getting pitbulls to look hard, this will never happen.

boxer mix.
Exactly.

The issue here is not if dogs can snap. There is no denying that they can. It is very possible.

The issue is that when pits snap, it is extremely dangerous . When they get aggressive, it is taken to a point where kids lives are put in danger. As Garth Brader said earlier, the magnitude of the harm they produce is not safe to the community

OK. How many children have labs killed. Someone mentioned it's not in a pit's DNA to kill. It actually is. It's not in a labs DNA to kill.

i don't personally know any decent, upstanding people that own pitbulls

there might be some out there, but I'm just saying that I don't know if I've ever met one

boxers are not known for the level of aggression of pits nor have they shown to have a tendency to just "snap" without warning like Pits are known to do. This means you're probably OK. But still, even here you've got to understand that you're still the owner of a 70 lb dog. And while we love our dogs and like to ascribe human traits to them, one human trait that dogs do not have is the ability to use logic and reason. They act on instinct. Some dogs have stronger instinctual urges towards aggression than others, but no matter how gentile they seem, that instinct is still present in them all. You can never forget that.

He gets it.......everyone needs to read this, re-read this and then have it tattooed on both arms in case they forget. It's not even close which dog (pits and rotts) kills the most people.

you don't hear about them because they aren't in the news for having a dog kill a child.

I know that, and that's why I pay attention to my dog. she's not a toy I can just ignore. if she shows any slight hint of aggression, I shut that shite down and make sure she knows it's not good.
