I wish Volvo would create a car with a small turbo diesel engine that powers electric motors and recharges batteries as you drive. Same concept as the gas/electric super cars from Porsche, Mclaren, and Ferrari but for efficiency instead of power and speed.

when there's 1 million fricking plugs for these electric cars all over the city, some dumbass will finally ask the question: what powers these electric plugs. yep......you guessed it....FOSSIL FUELS.

I thought I read it to be every car introduced in 2019 or later will be fully electric.
In other words, if there is a vehicle line in production today with a program end later than 2019, it will continue to be produced as is today.

but could you imagine getting stuck in a hurricane evacuation in one of those things? I would probably run out of juice near Gramercy
Not a problem. An electric car doesn't idle. If it's stopped, the electric motor isn't running.
OTOH internal combustion engines provide a lot of excess power to run accessories. That battery is going to drain pretty swiftly running the A/C in a Louisiana summer.
