once Brees retires and Payton finally takes a HC job in Texas.
Lol. There is a high probability that Brees plays 6 more years. That would give Payton 13 years as a head coach and chances are you see him retire as well. He could continue to coach of course, but I'd say chances are pretty good he may hang it up especially if we get one or two more championships along the way. Wouldn't want to tarnish that career with some down years coaching that soap opera that is Jerrah world. Would be an embarrassment to his legacy here.

I understand what everyone was/is saying, I do. That's why I said maybe my feelings were skewed since I am a Falcons fan. Just was trying to explain that sometimes it does feel like Gleason is paraded around to flaunt it in some teams faces rather than caring for the cause.
That's all. Not meant as a slap in the face to anyone.
Alright, moving on...

It's hilarious listening to them talk about having no class when Steve Smith is constantly trying to get into a fight almost every game!!

You know what, I hate Steve Gleason. They act like he was Mr. Perfect. He's just a mediocre football player that got sick. Lot's of guys get sick and die, there is nothing special or inspirational about him.
this guy was on the right track, I suppose he should have stopped after the get sick and die part.

Steve Gleasons actions after retiring and getting sick have far outweighed his contributions on the football field. Thats what it seems most people are missing.
Steve is remembered by Saints fans for one play. He'll be remembered by a lot more people for what hes done off the field.

Wow. If stories about Gleason and his fight with ALS make you see nothing but disrespect to a FOOTBALL TEAM, then you need to take your Falcons jersey off, take your Matty Ice posters off your bedroom wall and slowly back away. You need to get a fricking life and realize his battle with ALS is real life.....football is a kids game that adults get paid to play. Get your head out of your arse and see the big picture.

The thing to remember is Gleason is active in promoting No White Flags and being outspoken about the disease. In no way are the Saints parading him around. Steve wants it this way. It's his choice.

I wouldn't devalue football. Players get paid money that most would kill for.
There are things related to football that transcend the game itself. Like when a player is injured and the game is halted to assist them and both teams' fans cheer for their health. The work with Gleason is about fighting a disease and has nothing to do with the game itself.
