we need WRs in the worst way. Pierre Thomas and Sproles should not be catching 70 passes each in a season.

Free agents I would like
Decker
Edelman
Sanders
Maclin
Draft
Jordan Matthews 2nd round
Archer(sproles/McCluster type of player) 5th
Sign a free agent wr and draft Matthews and brees will have weapons. Moore, colston is not getting it done

My wish list:
1. Maclin, Bolden, Cooper in FA (some combination of these 3)
2. Replacement for Sproles
3. Starting Khiry
4. New center and maybe right tackle
I really would like to have Maclin on this team. He could replace Moore, be a legit speed/deep threat, and replace Sproles in the return game. Kind of fills 3 needs with one player.

Not to mention his return ability

Sorry, meant to say replace Sproles in the return game.

Hopefully we could cut Sproles and use that money on Maclin

No bigger LSU fan than me. Look at the film, Beckham is just not that fast. Rarely got separation on deep balls. That's against college DBs. Watson or Matthews would be my choice.
And throw in Trey Mason to replace Sproles while we're at it.

to get back to great, my #1 priority would be making sure this number was gonna turn around next year...
Brees sacks by year since '06- 18, 16, 13, 20, 25, 24, 26, 37.
Definitely the wrong trend for a smaller QB that turns 35 next year.
dlP can be upgraded with a 2nd or 3rd Rd pick IMO.

he averaged like 20 yards per catch. lol
his speed improved tremendously from last season

Well then he plays slower. Seriously, look at the film. When did ODB ever simply blow by a corner on a deep rout. He was always competing for those balls.
Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great lance Moore type guy. Maybe better moves, but not a 1st round talent.

Don't let them fool you man, you are right. Beckham is quickly becoming the most overrated guy in the draft. Beckham routinely got caught from behind on returns, and routinely got caught from behind after catching passes and looking like he had an opening to break away.
He has good quickness, but his break away speed is overrated. Someone actually compared him to Desean Jackson. He can prove me wrong at the combine.

Kenny Stills apparently had the best yards per catch numbers in the league this year, and he's not exactly a burner.

Kenny stills ran like a 4.39 or something

We need a RT and a good receiver.
Zach Strief played poorly down the stretch in my opinion, he's a free agent, and he's getting older. His pass protection and run blocking are both subpar, and at this point he should only be a swing tackle. Finding a solid RT that excels in run blocking should be important. As Drew gets older, we're going to need to run the ball more. What's best is that this position can be addressed in the middle rounds.
Armstead is going to be a fixture on the left side for years.
As for WR, I don't think we need a guy to step in and be our new No. 1. Colston is still the guy there as he had a great run towards the end of the season. Plus, Kenny Stills will be even better, Morgan should be back, and Nick Toon might finally put it all together (even though that's a long shot). But, using a high pick on a guy like Jordan Matthews or Allen Robinson would be solid. Those guys, while not explosive, have size and run great routes.
As a bonus I would toss in a pass-catching RB. Sproles did not look himself for much of the season, and Pierre may not be able to stand much more of a beating. Both guys are on the wrong side of 30. We need productive catchers out of our backfield to operate this offense.

Dang, dude doesn't look like a 4.39 in pads. Didn't look like a burner in college either. But if his speed matches his production, why is anyone talking about needing Joe Morgan back? Stills has already proven more than Morgan ever did.
Still would like someone like Maclin though. He goes over the middle, and has burner speed, and does returns.
ETA; Maclin actually ran a bit slower than Stills. That's weird. Watching those guys play, Maclin definitely looks faster.

I think stills would excel more having someone else with speed to stretch the field allowing him to run underneath routes

We should all remember that Joe Morgan made this team because of his return ability in the first place. That, however, was 3 years and 2 knee surgeries ago...
Posted on 1/12/14 at 9:23 pm to TigerBait1127
Possibly, but if Morgan is just running deep routes, does Stills have the sure enough hands to kind of fill in that Lance Moore role? If not, maybe you bring in an Edelman, or someone like that, to rotate with Stills and Morgan.
