Yeah the Jets game showed us how bad the LBs were at stopping the run. People get too wrapped up in pass rush because it's a passing league, but if you can't stop the run you simply can't win. That's the only way to beat a team like the Saints - run the ball, keep the Offense off the field.

Vilma looked terrible in his snaps that game. Our safeties really did a good job last year of hiding that weakness, along with the emergence of Hicks and Jenkins

Meh, that's a strong statement. I expect Butler will be in rotation with Galette; him playing more as the base SAM LB and Junior on 3rd and longs or obvious passing plays. After rewatching a lot of the games last season, Galette has a TON of work to do on not over-committing to the pass rush and playing the run.

We'll see how Rooks pans out but he's green and it takes a long time to be a good all-around LB in the NFL. And no I'm not saying that the FO should have done anything differently in regards to LBs this off-season; FA didn't produce any viable options and really I wasn't impressed with many of the LBs in the draft this year. Last year was a good one for LBs, but hindsight is 20/20.

As far as the MLBs, I really hope Lofton and Hawthorne improve as they continue to transition into the 3-4.

Its not like I said our LBers are great. I just said that we are deeper than last year which is true. We have everybody back but now with a healthy Butler and the two rookies. I don't expect much from the rooks but they provide more depth than we had last year.

Thank You

Lets see who we have after preseason before we start giving the rankings. We went into last years training camp and preseason thinking we were a 34 defense. Then the injuries came.
