The bad ones you thought would sting forever. And now they sting only if you think hard.

With so many to choose from we should get a good list to see how far they've come.

For me
-Big Ben I
-Big Ben II
-Loss to Rams in early 80's to keep us out of playoffs (langsford 42 yrd FG as time expires puts Rams in playoffs and us out) *see below.
-Loss 48-7 or whatever to Vikes in first ever saints playoff game
- Loss to Raiders 42-35 on MNF (up 28-14 at half)

I put a thread up on the rant, except things that they'll never ever get over. The rant took it surprisingly well.

*The last game of the regular approached. All that stood in the way of a first ever playoff appearance was the Los Angeles Rams. The winner would advance as a wildcard contender. The loser would stay home. Late in the fourth quarter, with a slim 24-23 lead the Saints found themselves facing fourth down inside the Rams 35 yard line. Instead of attempting a 49 yard FG, Bum made the decision to punt it away. With the ball back, the Rams drove 55 yards and with 6 seconds left in the season, Mike Lansford hit a 42 yard score to win for the Rams. The Saints stayed home. Ironically, it was L.A.'s only offensive points of the game. Rams scores came on a safety, a punt return TD and 2 interceptions returned for scores. Ram QB Vince Ferragamo didn't even complete a pass until the last drive.

If you're talking disappointments, two stand out in my mind:

I was young at the time -- I damn near started bawling like a baby.

Are you sure it was 35-7? I remember NO having a 35-21 lead.

The other is the playoff loss to the Falcons. 27-21 lead late, Mora decides to blitz for once, instant TD Atlanta and Glanville

I think. I was at the game. It was like having Bipolar Disorder. I'll have to check.

My bad: "Playoffs" was becoming a possible reality. All that stood in the way was the Oakland Raiders on Monday night in the Super Dome. The NFL had gone as far as informing the Saints front office to start printing playoff tickets if they won.

The Oakland Raiders had made history time and time again on Monday Night..... this was only the Saints 4th appearance..... and they had yet to win. Even so, by halftime New Orleans had it's first 1,000 yard rusher in Chuck Muncie and a 28-14 lead.

Unfortunately, the offense that had exploded in the first half, imploded the second. Manning and company could only muster 81 yards of offense as the only score for the Saints was a Kenny Bordeleon 19 yard interception return. NFL legend Kenny Stabler threw 3 fourth quarter Tds. One was a 5 yard hitch to Cliff Branch that turned into a 66 yard score. Branch later caught the go-ahead score as the Raiders came back 42-35.

Hey what about giving the Browns there first win since they reformed on a last play hail mary - that was a hard one to swallow. What was that 98?

I am so surprised that the rant had a rational reaction. Not one bad comment.

so so many to choose from. But yeah, around that time.

Then, there is the 62-7 loss to The Falcons (at home) in the early 70's.

This. He missed the damn extra point. He MISSED the damn EXTRA POINT!!!

Another one is MNF last year against the Vikings. Reggie has 2 punt returns for TD's and they still find a way to lose.

Tampa Bay year before last. Saints have the ball, the lead, and are in a position to seal the deal. Then, the double reverse.

I remember that game was blacked out in New Orleans and whatever game they were showing instead was a blowout so they switched over to the Saints for the last game of the game. THANKS CBS

Not sure if it has been posted yet, but the home game against the Vikes in around 2001-2002 where Culpepper fumbled the ball, picked it up, and rain staight up the gut (past big ol' Norman Hand) and scored to win in the waning minutes which effectively knocked the Saints out of the playoffs

I was not happy

Yep. 1979 and I have that game on DVD. Stabler picked us apart in the 2nd half. We had the game in the bag, so I thought.

Loss of something like 63-0 to Falcons (70's I think)

Playoff loss to Bears in 2006. I'd love to play them this year!

Big Ben I and II also. Hate the Falsons!
