Wait, so he went from an elite coach to rock bottom now?
Also:

My apologies, McCarthy is 6-5 in the playoffs. He won 4 of those games in 1 year. 5 in 2
Crazy how you believed that though despite reality

I believed it because you posted it.
He also has won his division the past 3 years
You didn't ask me how many of those coaches I consider elite, and Billy B would be the only one

6 is the future 32.
What next, we should hire some college coach, because that works so well every time.

Someone defends Payton and you call them an idiot???

Boy is that backwards!! Oh lord, talk about a short attention span society... You have to just accept facts and accept that you are a close minded fool

The coach is not the problem. The Saints have accomplished 5x as much during the Payton era than they have in the 40 years prior. Spoiled is the exact right term. This team has a shite defense, overvalued overpaid OL and a ton of injuries and theres the root of the problem.

Since 2006, McCarthy has won his division 4 times and gone to the playoffs 6 times.
Since 2006, Payton has won his division 3 times and gone to the playoffs 5 times.
So he's gone into the playoffs one more time than Payton, led his division one more time than Payton, but has 1 more year of coaching than Payton, but his record is pretty much the same. (remember CSP loses 2012).
6-5 for mccarthy
6-4 for payton
Sounds to me like if one is elite, so is the other. Both have franchise elite QBs, both are always playing with bad defenses, and both have solid offenses year in and year out.

Where did I say McCarthy is elite? I said he's one of the top 5
Posted on 11/25/14 at 1:19 pm to Thib-a-doe Tiger
So what is elite then, top 2?
If people consider Elite QBs to be 5:
Manning
Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Luck
then should it not work the same for head coaches?
ETA: So fine, he's not elite. He's a top 5 coach, and you want to kick him now, and try to find a random guy to take his place. The chances of someone coming in and doing a better job is slim. If it was that easy, teams would never have coaching issues.

Where do you rank Sean Payton?
Are you starting to understand why firing is so dumb? We're directly comparing him to someone you listed as a top 5 coach and he stands shoulder to shoulder.
You fire a top coach in the hopes of possibly finding another one while risking the last few years of a HOF QB?

Who has the better recent track record?

If McCarthy is a top 5 coach, currently, but everything about him is equal to Sean Payton.
Record (win% is pretty much the same)
Superbowl Wins (1 a piece)
Playoff victories/defeats (6-5 and 6-4 record)
Offensive production (annual top 5 since they've been head coaches)
Than that means Payton is equivalent to McCarthy, is it not?
But okay, he's an average head coach that 26 other teams would want. If that is the definition of average to you, below average, or whatever it is you're trying to say...then go back to school and pay attention in english class.

change your story up to defend yourself because your argument is idiotic.

Actually, it would still be Sean Payton.
2013: Green Bay playoffs 0-1, hosting a playoff game
2013: New Orleans playoffs 1-1, both road games.
0.000 or 0.500

One of these is a proven winner, the other is not.
One of these are sinking this team, the other is not.
One of these gets the players to buy in to their philosophy, the other does not.
The defense plays defeated. Its like they know they aren't good, like they listen to the criticism and just accept it.

Past 3 seasons (including this one):
Regular Season
Sean Payton 28-13 (68.3%)
Mike McCarthy 27-15-1 (62.8%)
Playoffs
Sean Payton (2-2)
McCarthy (1-2)

and to rest my case on how idiotic and spoiled you probably are, not having to live through the late 90s and early 2000s.
Sean Payton 6-4 playoffs:
10 games: 302 points scored (30.2ppg), 274 points allowed (27.4ppg)
+2.8ppg
Mike McCarthy 6-5 playoffs:
11 games: 323 points scored (29.4ppg), 295 points allowed (26.8ppg)
+2.6ppg
Oh look at that, even in the playoffs their teams are spot on even.
Why 4? Why not 5?
4 would make your case better because that means 1 ring for McCarthy and none for Payton
5 years would make your case worse because that means both have a ring.
How about the last 4 years of each coach's tenure? That would make more sense.

You probably missed it because you apparently don't even read what I post, but I have been watching the Saints since the early 90's

And your math here is all kinds of fricked up. 195/11=26.8?
