So the saints have had a bumpy start to this season. Few areas of improvement to watch for this week to make me feel confident that the saints are a super bowl contender. I wanted to talk some football this week because it seems we haven’t had a ton of that on saints talk. Curious to hear others opinions as well.

1. The return of MT13.
With him back in the offense I expect the offense to really play at a high level. Sanders and Brees were able to build chemistry. I think we will look back at the Thomas injury and say that was a blessing in disguise. Outside of week 1 we haven’t seen this team with a healthy Kamara and Thomas in a long time. Then sprinkle in sanders and cook. The offense should really be impressive to watch.

2. D Line play.

I have no idea what it is about Davenport but this D line is way better when he plays. Last week they really got after Herbert and I expect that to continue this week. It was obvious when Davenport went down last year that we had a significant drop off in our pass rush. Hendrickson is great but he doesn’t demand a double at any time.

3. The secondary.

The biggest area that we need to see improvement in is the secondary play. Hopefully janoris is healthy this week. Lattimore has to be much better. Malcolm Jenkins has to be much better. This secondary has way too much talent to be playing like they are. If the saints are going to win a super bowl this is the unit that really has to improve. Lattimore performing this poorly in a contract year is mind blowing. This is one of the most talented secondary units in the league but they have been playing like one of the worst. Hopefully we see that change this week.
