Armstead ran his 40-yard dash in an unofficial time of 4.65 seconds, which is stunningly fast for a 306-pound offensive tackle

Would he replace Bushrod?

That guy Eric Fisher from Central Mich looked super smooth & natural in all his drills.

He won't drop to us, but somebody will be getting a Joe Thomas-type guy in April.

Some dude a few years ago ran a 4.7 at OT. Bruce something. That's my point.

40-yard dash times are pointless for OL! I don't understand why they even have them participate in it. If you're wanting to pick a OL bc he has a fast 40, you should favor a new sport.

40 time for a O lineman about as important as a bench press for a QB to me

This. Bruce Campbell was awful for the Raiders. They gave up on him after two seasons.

I want to know how a guy bends and moves around the pocket. I want to see a guy release and move upfield. Speed means nothing when youre getting put on your arse play after play.

Unless this guy has hands of granite, he should probably be converted to a TE. Dude alos did 31 reps on the bench---freakish.

He could be a steal because he ran a good 40? Like others have said, o-linemen shouldn't even run the 40.

A 10 yard dash is a better measurement tool for an OL ability to get off the ball

True Dat Barbe.... Besides Joeckel and Johnson, Jake Long is next in line IMO. Good measurables, fluid hips, and a little speed made for a very good performance for an OL. Most other OL today looked very very awkward in the drills. Maybe it was nerves maybe it wasn't. I'm taking Jake Long in 2nd rd.(according to my trading down idea).

It points to mobility and explosiveness...comes in handy on some of these offensive "rollout" schemes. Also it is huge on pulling in front of a RB. When an OL has to pull to get outside on a lb'er or a corner, its the speed that counts, not necessarily his size.

The ONLY data that can be used from the 40yd(for OL) is the 10yd time (notice they now record it). By the time the pulling lineman gets 10-15 yds past LOS he has been passed already.

For all those times the Guard has to pull 40 yards down the field.

Footwork and quickness, not speed.

You think Johnson and Long go before Eric Fisher?

Fisher did not perform well today.. Long def. out did him but then again it is just the combine. Just my opinion.
