IMO, he is a better QB than Teddy at this point, but he cannot be used as he was last year if he were #2. Also, Teddy can walk into the offense and run it without deviations from the game plan. Taysom would be a whole different section of the playbook if he had to take meaningful snaps at QB.
Honestly, if Brees retires this year, I could see them choosing Taysom over Teddy at this point.

Once and for all….He SHOULD be the 2nd string because he is infinitely better than Teddy and at this point I think its clear that the coaches, players and fans (those that are not in denial) know this.
However if Sean puts him at 2nd string he cannot utilize him at slot, special teams, outside WR, QB etc….this will be his last year playing the swiss army knife because next year he will be given every opportunity to be the starter after Drew retires.

There is nothing in the rule book that says the 2nd string QB couldn't do everything Taysom does. The issue you run is you do not keep a good backup as the 3rd stringer.
As another poster pointed out, the reason Teddy should be the #2 is he can come in and run the exact same game plan as Brees (obviously less effective). You can then have Taysom take over the next game after you have had all week to install an entire game plan based on his strengths.
